Welcome!
My laboratory is interested in understanding the cerebellum. This brain region is critical for motor coordination and other cognitive functions. Damage to the cerebellum leads to movement problems such as tremor and incoordination. Abnormalities of the cerebellum have also been linked to autism and other neurological disorders. Our longstanding research focuses include characterizing the basic patterns of electrical activity in the cerebellum, determining the mechanisms that underlie these activity patterns, and investigating the role of the cerebellum in shaping our movements. More recently we have been investigating several new areas related to the cerebellum including: the cerebellum's role in time perception; how time perception is altered in fragile X syndrome; and how transcranial electrical stimulation alters cerebellar activity. |
